Kindle Unlimited or freebie day depending, Liz Lucas Cozy Mystery Read these a bit back and remember a great deal of what I read {not titles so yeah problem} but just seems as if there really is nothing new under the sun type thing, maybe too many cozies, something, but these were not as good as I remembered. The other 3 set, Blue Coyote Series was too disjointed with too many people/viewpoints and things going on.1 Murder in Cottage #6 2 Murder and Brandy Boy 3 The Death Card
1 Blue Coyote Motel 2 Coyote In Provence 3 Cornered Coyote
There are quite a few of the Cozy Bay Mystery Series out, they all suffer from the same issues as does Tea Party Teddy {2 at this time which was basically unbearable to read and with no real redeeming features}.

Blue Coyote Motel Coyote Series Book 1 edition by Dianne Harman Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Diane Harmon has taken one of the world's common maladies and transcended it into a beautiful and poignant story. Her novel projects understanding, empathy and compassion for Maria Rodriguez a beautiful young woman suffering from depression. The story line is well-spun and intriguing, and the characters, from Maria to the Nobel-prize seeking Jeffrey to Sam and others are captivating, vulnerable and visual. The dialogue is crisp and believable. I appreciate the work in this novel and recommend it without reservation. I really enjoy the Coyote series and this writer's contributions.... You will too!
There are many inter-weaving story-lines and characters in this tale and for a while I wasn't quite sure how they would all cross paths and affect each other. The premise is an intriguing one and raises some very valid philosophical questions regarding behavior, ethics and the nature of "doing good." For instance, if people think that they are doing something good but the consequence of their acts prove to be the opposite, are they doing something evil? I very much liked the character of Maria and I'm looking forward to getting to know her better in the sequel. I'm hooked.
A promising premise that never comes to fruition. It seems as if the author had a good idea but didn't know how to develop it into a cohesive story. It took a long time to introduce the characters, and by the time she got back to some of them I had forgotten their backstory ("Was he the salesman?"). There are several phrases that get repeated ad nauseam, and she explains some situations several times - exactly the same way. I read more imaginative stories written by students in a creative writing class. So predictable and amateurish... It wasn't worth the 99¢ I paid for it. Waste of valuable reading time. Don't bother.
I cannot believe the praise this book has received. I felt I was reading an attempt at a novel written by a high school sophomore. The question of what a person might do to avoid the aging process is certainly an interesting one, and given the number of anti-aging products on the market, one that might appeal to many. However, I found the book difficult to read because of the author's writing style (or lack thereof), the continual reminder of why and how this character should escape from the barrio, and insertions that had little to do with the story line and just took up space. If this had not been a book club selection, I would not have seen it through to the end. So far, the other book club members I have talked to also feel the same.
This was a free download which I've stored since July, 2013. I finally got around to reading it. And wasted that time. I went to Harman's website just now to assure myself that this was a first novel so I could comfort myself that she'd get better with time and experience and maybe find a good editor. To my shock and dismay I found she's published many books before this one! In her Acknowledgements at the end of this book she mentions an editor but I thought perhaps it was a friend who considered herself an expert on grammar, spelling, syntax--and style. I don't know if that's a fact, though.
I had almost decided not to write a review of this one because of all the glowing 5-star ratings. I thought perhaps I was the voice crying in the wilderness and I didn't want to be the lone dissenter. Then I read the 1-star reviews. And most of them said what I'd been thinking I'd say. So I won't reiterate what the other 1-star folks have written. I'll only just say--Yep. My thoughts exactly.
